Food Bank

In response to the immediate needs of the Special Event, Live Entertainment and Film and TV Production workforce impacted directly by the fallout of COVID-19, we are organizing a temporary drive up Food Bank to supply provisions to those in need. Those who register and qualify will be given weekly time slots to come pick up boxes with food & basic supplies.

Knowledge

We are gathering research and encouraging direct support for our Industry’s workforce and small businesses. We will share any information and resources we come across on this platform in addition to communicating directly with those who register.

Opportunities

We are working directly with Sponsors, Special Event, Live Entertainment and Film and TV Production businesses to determine what opportunities exist, and what new opportunities to engage the workforce will be available when the medical crisis is past.

Grocery Kit

Safety & Pick-Up Instructions

Word to the wise (and also the rest of us):

Here at EventLA we maintain strict standards for food handling as well as facility and handler sanitizing, however, just like the items at your grocery store, you should expect that the products you have received today passed through multiple locations and hands, and handle them with care accordingly.

We would also suggest that ripe produce be immediately placed in the refrigerator and frozen items immediately in the freezer.  Frozen items should not be re-frozen after defrosting.

Some products may contain nuts, and we cannot guarantee that the items in the grocery kits don’t come from nut-free facilities.

EventLA assumes no liability for the products distributed in our complimentary grocery kits.

Grocery Kit Pick Up FAQ’s

What is included in the grocery kit?

There are two different kit options available:

  • Regular Kit or Vegetarian Kit

    • Items generally include eggs, cheese, fresh produce, rice, flour, approximately 16 ounces of frozen meat (generally ground beef, chicken or pork loin), pasta, bread, and dry good supplies such as paper towels, Kleenex, and toilet paper, as items are available.  Vegetarians will receive tofu in place of the meat items in their kits.

Kit items will change as donations are received and inventory is made available.  We can not accept special requests at this time.

What is the cost per grocery kit?

Grocery kits are free at this time, as we have received a generous donation from a Private Foundation which can cover up to 2000 kits!

Grocery kits are valued between $50-$60. If you can donate to help sustain our efforts, please click on the “Donate Now” button at the top of the page.

Who is eligible to sign up to receive the grocery kits?

Anyone in the Special Event, Live Entertainment and Film and TV Production Industries who has recently been laid off or had their hours reduced.

How do I register?

Click on the “register” button at the top of the page.

Registering is easy through our partner, Lasso, which is a crew scheduling system.

As supplies become available, you will receive an invitation to accept a pick-up time.

Once you’ve accepted the pick-up time, an email will follow letting you know that you’ve been added to our daily roster.

How are you being mindful of sanitation and safety during the COVID 19 crisis?

Our venue has a health permit with LA County as a functioning high risk restaurant, and our employees are all Serve Safe Certified with valid food handler’s cards on file.  We follow the below guidelines to ensure safety to all:

·       Upon arriving to work, all staff and volunteers must wash their hands with soap and water according to posted hand washing instructions in the venue.

·       All team members must wear disposable gloves at all times, and a mask or bandana/scarf across their face and nose.

·       All team members will be notified to wash their hands and change gloves every hour, as well as after handling food directly or after using restroom facilities.

·       We are maintaining social distancing within the team and are keeping all team members 6’ apart and encouraging as minimal contact as possible with patrons. We are simply checking cell phone text message registration confirmations, and putting all groceries into the trunks of cars.
